Hi! My name is Steven Sivley, and I’m the Worship Pastor at SMCC. I grew up in a Christian home in Odenville, AL where I was taught Scripture and we were deeply involved with our local church, Bethel Baptist. I heard the Gospel, acknowledged my sin before God, repented and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, and surrendered my life to Him at a young age.

Home life was full of music, hard work, joy, and practical faith in the Lord. After high school, I left home to attend Auburn University and earned a degree in Landscape Horticulture. My wife Stephanie and I were married after graduation in 2003 and we began our careers in the Birmingham area. Not long after our wedding, my dad passed away, and our trust and growth in the Lord deepened. He was preparing us for ministry, and within a couple of years, He allowed me to join the staff of our church (The Church at Brook Hills) as full-time Associate Worship Minister.

I grew in my love for the Lord, His Word, and His people. Our family began to grow, and God blessed us with two children, Ava and Sam. In 2011, our young family moved to south Florida where I served as the Worship Pastor at First Baptist Jensen Beach for four years. In 2015, we were able to move back to Birmingham, and I began serving on staff at SMCC as Worship Pastor. Our family loves this church, and we are thankful for the opportunity to serve the Lord and His people here.

Hobbies:

I enjoy the outdoors, making music, and spending time with family and friends. I like old Land Cruisers, wood fires, and working around our home and property.

Role:

As Worship Pastor, I plan and lead the congregational worship in our services, and provide leadership for our band, vocalists, choir, and tech team. I also oversee our building and grounds maintenance, improvements, and cleaning. I’m over our communications ministry, and I’m currently working on a seminary degree.

Favorite Scripture:

He must increase, but I must decrease.

John 3:30
