Hi! My name is Leanne Rainwater, and I am a ministry assistant at SMCC.
I have lived in Birmingham my whole life. I attended Shades Mountain Christian School from K5 – 12th grade and went on to earn a degree from Samford University in Paralegal Studies. I worked as a paralegal for 9 years but took a break when my two girls were very small. When I began working again in 2004, it was with children. The Lord led me to a part-time job at SMCC in 2013, and that job turned into a full-time position in 2015.
I’ve attended SMCC since I was in elementary school and came to know Christ as my Lord and Savior as a young teen. My spiritual growth continued under the teaching of Pastor Vigneulle, Pastor Harry Walls, and continues still under Pastor Rick’s leadership. Women’s Bible Studies have made a huge impact on my life, and I am thankful for the teachers I’ve had through the years, including Diane Davis and Kris Goertzen.
My husband, Jeff, and I met here at SMCC as part of the Yams group, and we were married at this church in 1998 by (then) young adult pastor, Stan Givens. We have two daughters, Katie, who lives in Huntsville, and Maggie, who is currently attending Mississippi State University. Jeff is a landscape superintendent at the Birmingham Country Club; he also serves on SMCC's security team. I’m so grateful to be a part of this church staff!

Hobbies:
I enjoy watching movies and college football, cooking for friends and family, and I am an avid reader. Also, our family loves to travel together (our favorite destination is Walt Disney World).
Role:
I’m blessed to be able to support both Steven Sivley in his role as Worship Pastor, and Andrew Spigner as he pastors the High School and Yams groups. In addition, I serve on our tech team on Sunday mornings, and I work in accounts payable. I also prepare and send out our church newsletter and prayer bulletin, and work closely with Gina and Genny during any church celebrations, events, or conferences.
