Hi! My name is Genny Rollings, and I am the Volunteer Coordinator at SMCC. I became aware of God when I was 6 while overhearing my grandmother pray. I was in awe that she would pray out loud to God. My parents taught us to love God and all people, be kind, respectful, and helpful to everyone. When I was 11 years old, in a revival the preacher said, “If you haven’t asked Jesus to forgive your sins, to come into your heart as your Savior, you are a lost sinner going to hell to burn for eternity.” I was scared and cried. I realized I was a lost sinner. I asked Jesus for forgiveness and to be my Savior (John 3:16). I was no longer scared, and I knew I would have everlasting life with Jesus. I began to grow spiritually in His Word and loved everything about serving Him. There were challenges, trials, and hurts along the way, but God has let me live long enough to see that it all happened for my good and His glory (Romans 8:28).

I grew up in Lynch, Kentucky where I graduated from High School in 1955. I moved to Birmingham and attended Alverson Draughon Business College. I met the love of my life in 1956. Bob had graduated from Auburn in 1953. We married in 1958 and God blessed us with two wonderful children, Denise and Robby. Our marriage grew more wonderful each year as we grew together spiritually, raised our family, and served the Lord together in ministry. We came to SMCC in 1979.

The Lord called my beloved home in May 2013. A few weeks earlier, Bob encouraged me to continue in the ministry God has called me to. That is where I find fulfillment and blessings. I rejoice in my calling and stand in awe of God’s grace and love for me, and the love from my church family. To God be Praise and Glory forever (Romans 11:36).
