Hi! My name is Connie Hartley, and I have attended SMCC since 2009; As a member, I serve as Assistant Nursery Director and as an employee, I am a part-time Ministry Assistant. It is a dream I've realized to worship and serve at SMCC where I see our leadership lovingly and firmly adhering to and preaching biblical truth.

I was born at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. I have lived in Montgomery, Alabama, Okinawa, and Omaha, Nebraska, settling in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at the age of 9. I received a Business degree in Marketing from the University of Alabama. My beloved husband of 40 years is Sandy Hartley, who serves as a Deacon. Prior to joining SMCC, Sandy and I were a part of a church plant in Tuscaloosa where God allowed us to serve in numerous roles for over 25 years. God gifted us with four amazing children who have married wonderful spouses, and we are now 'Gaddy' and 'CiCi' to
seven beautiful grands.

I grew up in a family that believed in God but held untrue beliefs according to God’s word. While I professed my faith at 16 it was at the age of 24 that God pursued and surrounded Sandy and I with passionate believers. Their desire to deeply know and live out scriptural truths impacted and challenged us.
God drew us to His Word where I read James 2:19. I realized my belief looked more like that of the demons. My faith was not reflected in my heart or how I lived. I saw with fresh eyes the depth of my sin that separated me from my Heavenly Father who sent His Son Jesus to live a perfect life on my behalf and who willingly went to the cross as my substitute to die and rise again as my Savior. My belief became faith and trust alone in Jesus. My heart is to love in a way that points to God’s Glory, and to serve Him and others faithfully. I treasure being a part of women’s groups and opportunities given to disciple woman one-on-one, sharing with them that the Word has all they need. How WORTHY God is of our complete TRUST!

Hobbies:

I enjoy hosting in my home and time spent at our camp house in Greensboro, AL with family and friends, serving meals, fishing with my grands, and supporting my avid hunters.

Role:

I 'get' to enjoy serving as admin support for varying ministries in whatever capacity is needed. I also serve alongside our very dedicated Nursery Director, working as admin support by overseeing our team leaders, greeters, and check-in desk. I cherish connecting with young families and their children in one of the sweetest ministries at SMCC.

Favorite Scripture:

And He has said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.' Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

2 Corinthians 12:9
