Hi! My name is Anna Tanner, and I am the Middle School and Camp Ministry Assistant at SMCC. I grew up in Helena, where my parents still live, and then attended Samford University where I studied accounting. While at Samford, I began attending SMCC and have been so blessed by the body of Christ through this church.

I grew up attending church, but the truths of Scripture and Christ’s gift to me were not evident until later years. As an anxious child, I would lie awake at night in fear of all the bad things that could happen to me, and in one of those nights the Lord was so kind to recall the truths I was learning in church and remind me that he has conquered death and every temptation that this world brings! He saved me from my sin and fear, but this was just the very beginning of my sanctification.

Throughout middle and high school, I was getting all the accolades and had great friends but was blind to the depths of my depravity and sin, caught in pride and ignorant of my great need for the Savior. Once again, the Lord was so sweet to reveal to me my sin and selfishness, calling me to repent of my pride, and remind me of my value in Him alone. He has faithfully continued to show me my sin and need for Him, thus growing my love and appreciation for Him and His Word, and I am so grateful for His abundant grace and mercy in my life. I have been so blessed by this church family and it is truly a dream come true to be on staff here.

Hobbies:

Outside of work, I love to be outside exploring God’s creation, hiking, sitting in the sun, or being near the water. I also enjoy working out, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, cooking, and spending time with friends.

Role:

In my position, I work alongside Jonathan with our middle school students and head up recruiting for Camp Adventure. I also help run our basketball league, Shades Mountain All-Stars, and help Gary with some financial and administrative responsibilities.

Favorite Scripture:

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

John 15:5
