II.  All Men are Sinners

• Man was created by God (in His own image)

•  Man disobeyed God and lost his original righteousness and became sinful and corrupt.

•  Sin separates man from God.  Thus the former relationship with God is broken.

III.  God Graciously Offers Salvation

Resurrection is the proof of an acceptable sacrifice.

IV.  Justification by Faith

Redemption and Reconciliation to God rests solely on the merits of Jesus.

3 Bases of Assurance

·      Promise of God – Hebrews 6:13ff

·      Obedient Life – 1 John 2:3

·      Spirit Bearing Witness with our Spirit – Romans 8

V.  Work of Holy Spirit

When we repent – two things happen:

•          Sin Paid for (Propitiation) – Sin Removed (Expiation)

•          Spirit – given individually – Helper – Pledge

Continuing work of Holy Spirit is Sanctification.

·      Convicts us of Sin

·      Draws us to Christ

·      Sanctifies our Hearts

·      Love for Brethren

·      Illuminates God’s Word

·      Teaches us to Pray
