Connected: A Community Celebration
Shades Mountain Community Church celebrated its 45th birthday in a big way! On June 28, 2015, the new front door was opened to the community and we had a wonderful day filled with activities, food from local vendors, and so much more.
The two main buildings on the SMCC campus were joined with a three story lobby, stairwell, and elevator. The children’s area was redesigned and made secure with a new entrance. There is also more seating and conversation areas in the expanded lobby. After worship service, the church members and guests adjourned to the new lobby to cut the ribbon. Joining us for this special ceremony dedicating the new construction were Hoover city mayor, Gary Ivey; Hoover police chief, Nick Derzis; and several of the architects who designed the expansion.
Then it was time for the celebration! El Gringo, New China, Tip Top Grill, Bakers Pizza, Mr. P’s Deli, and Bluff Park Diner provided wonderful meals. There was face painting, photo booths, arts & crafts, waterslides, inflatables, and even a visit from the Hoover Fire Department.
Many thanks to our community for coming out to celebrate with us!
